Centre Stage NI
Past Productions
In its first three decades, the company’s principal concern focused on producing international work rarely seen in Northern Ireland, as well as work of leading Irish playwrights prior to 1969. Including the works of Oscar Wilde, Samuel Beckett, Joseph Tomelty and Sam Hanna Bell – We have also produced new plays by Damian Smyth and our own Roma Tomelty. More recent productions have included Merlin Holland and John O’Connor’s The Trials of Oscar Wilde, John Osborne’s Luther, and the first-ever professional staging of Joseph Tomelty’s classic radio serial, The McCooeys, which opened the Grand Opera House, Belfast’s newly refurbished Studio Theatre in 2022.
We have had the honour of performing our past productions at the Barbican, The Ulster Museum, The RSC, Queen’s University and various buildings within the National Trust to name a few. Here is a glowing review we obtained from the British Theatre Guide on our production “Santa’s Sooty Christmas”
“Theatre and all artistic mediums speak to all social backgrounds; drama does not discriminate. Bringing communities together in joy and laughter since 1983. ”
